The Denmark Mountain Bike Club hosted a double header event for the State Downhill Series on March 29-30 with more than 130 riders.
This is the second consecutive year the club has held a double header which included rounds one and two of the State series at the Lapko Road course.

In dry and dusty conditions, riders faced a challenging course of steep rocky outcrops, bush terrain and constructed jumps.
Riders included locals competing in their first downhill event, and several female riders competed.
The level of competition was intense across all age groups, with riders showing skill on the track, keeping spectators on their toes throughout the weekend.
Denmark and Albany riders who made it to the podium: Xena Hamersley first U13 Albany, Ruby Beckett second U17 Denmark, Jess Waldron first elite female Albany, Tanya Bailey second elite female Albany, Tash Lewis second masters 5-6 Denmark.
Seamus Contier first U15s Albany, Flynn Devenport third U15 (round 1) Denmark, Mackenzie Stables third U15 (round 2) Denmark, Jake Drummond second U19 Denmark, Declan Poett third U19 Albany, Bobby Cooper third masters 3-4 Albany, Tim Wither third masters 5-6 Denmark.
Club president Brad Drummond said the event was a resounding success, demonstrating the region’s talents and the competitive spirit of the mountain bike community. DMTBC appreciate the contributions of local people and the emergency services, plus the sponsors and volunteers.
