Evie Henley is a talented Year 9 student who had an extraordinary year in Australian Football in 2024. Growing up on a farm in Ungarie, Evie’s journey in AFL began at the age of eight with her local club the Ungarie Magpies, where she played alongside her brother and twin sister under the coaching of her father Steve.

This rural upbringing shaped Evie into a quiet yet formidable on-ball player, known for her exceptional football nous, composure and accuracy in front of goals.

Evie has been a consistent member of the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges Girls AFL U15s team since 2022, serving as co-captain in 2024.

Her leadership helped the team secure victories at the NSW State Carnival in both 2023 and 2024. Representing NSW All Schools at the National Carnival, Evie contributed to the team’s runner-up finish in 2024 and was subsequently named in the School Sport Australia U15 Girls All Australian AFL Team.

This recognition reflected her outstanding performance as she was frequently considered for best on ground and players’ player honours.

Evie’s achievements extend beyond the school level. From 2021 to 2024, she has been a part of the Giants AFLW Development Program and in 2024 represented the Giants U16s Nationals Team. She also earned selection in the Murray Bushrangers U16 Development Squad and competed in the Coates Talent League U18 AFLW.

Despite her commitments to AFL, Evie continues to excel in netball and basketball, showcasing her versatility and love for sport.

Her dedication, talent and leadership make her a role model for her peers and a proud representative of her school and community.
