Regional Express (REX), Media Release, 12 November 2024
Good morning,
I wanted to personally share with you today’s news that the Australian Government announced an $80m financing facility to support the continued operations of the Rex network and their intention to extend the Federal Government Regional Flight Booking Guarantee.
This is great news for Rex.
It provides resources for investment needed to improve the business and the operational performance of the regional network including increasing the size of the active regional Rex fleet.
This investment is designed to increase reliability and capacity on our regional routes.
We are also seeking to extend the period of voluntary administration to 30 June 2025. An extension coupled with a business improvement plan, enabled by the Australian Government’s $80 million financing facility, will put Rex in the best possible position for a sustainable future.
The EY and Rex teams are grateful to Minister King and the Australian Government for their support and commitment to sustaining regional air services across Australia.
For our customers, these developments represent a big step forward for the regional network that connects our rural and remote communities. I look forward to sharing more with you as the business improvement plan takes shape and starts to show progress through the experience of flying Rex across regional Australia.
Yours sincerely,
Sam Freeman
