The Sailing Season officially started on Saturday 5 October and was scheduled to begin with the Alan Carson Memorial Commodore’s Cup. A good number of competitors arrived at the club but sadly the weather gods intervened.
In the interest of safety the Race Officer of the Day declared racing abandoned. The Commodore’s Cup will be rescheduled for later in the season. Somewhat disappointing for the Carson family members who had arrived to watch the race however safety of competitors and visitors takes priority.
The following weekend (12 October) there was a marked improvement in the weather conditions and 13 boats took to the water and racing was successfully completed. Happy sailors all!
Over both these weekends we were delighted to host ‘on-water training’ for the SES. Crews and instructors came for various parts of the state including Manningham, Pakenham, Kyabram, Foostcray and Rochester.
