Donald’s biggest two-day event is here, and these members of the Donald Show committee are at the showgrounds to administer the action-packed program throughout today and tomorrow.
At their office close to the junction of Borung Highway and Mill Street, the ladies are happy to deal with all enquiries, and to reward those whose entries in the Show Schedule’s multiple sections have won recognition from the judges.
Today (Friday) begins at 9 a.m. with the horse events. This has always been very popular especially among the competitors trying to accumulate points to enable their horses to compete at regional and state level.
The entertainment begins at 4 p.m. with many and various types of action. The official opening takes place at 6.30 p.m. in the Anderson Blue Room with guest speaker Harry Cashin.
Harry was dux of the Donald High School in 2019, and has gone to Deakin University to graduate with a dual undergraduate degree in a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science/Bachelor of Business (Sports Management). He is currently Football Operations Co-ordinator with the Geelong Cats.
Saturday begins at 9 a.m. with more horse events plus the Donald Pony Club will also hold its classes.
The feature for the day, I think, is the much-anticipated results in the pavilion. A lot of time and T.L.C. goes into these entries, so the winners are very happy. One section which continues to grow is the photography section, with over 400 entries.
The show committee has again organized a large arrangement of entertainment, with something for everyone. President Nicole Nunn said this week that the cost of running the show was enormous and without the sponsors and the many volunteers, the event would not be possible.
Being one of many volunteers helping out in any small way, when you walk into the show office at the end of the day and see the smile on the team members’ faces, you know it has been another successful show. These ladies who run the show have done another fantastic job, so come along, show your support and enjoy the Donald Show!
