Emma Pocock, daughter of Bill and Debbie Pocock, is representing Australia.
She will be competing at World Championship Multisport on August 25 in Townsville.
Emma entered the qualifying race in November 2023 in Canberra and was selected to represent the country in 35-39 Female Aquabike race.
Emma’s race consists of a three-kilometre ocean swim followed by 120-kilometre bike ride.
Emma is one of 1,170 athletes representing Australia.
There are about 3,000 athletes competing in the World Championships from 36 countries.
Emma has been training for 22 weeks for this event, logging training over her social media and a weekly summary of the training, highs and lows and updates.
Emma has previously completed in two 70.3-kilometre Ironman races, consisting of 1.9-kilometre swim, 90-kilometre bike, and a 21.1 kilometre run in Port Macquarie in 2022 and 2023, and Challenge Canberra Aquabike, which was a 1.9-kilometre swim and 90-kilometre bike, in 2023.
Having just watched the Olympics on TV, and growing up loving sport and supporting Australian athletes for as long as she can remember, Emma feels very proud to be lining up on the start line Sunday in green and gold to represent Australia.
