Countryman Gidgegannup Small Farm Field Day, 26 May 2024

Recent stories

Gidgegannup Agricultural Society

This year’s Countryman Gidgegannup Small Farm Field Day is shaping up to be another great event. Jam packed full of information, exhibitors and entertainment.   Once again we are joined by the Honey Festival and the Slow Food Movement with the Olive Festival.

There is a larger food and wine display in the Hall and entertainment in the Café/Entertainment area. Informative talks are scheduled for all the various talk centres around the ground. DPIRD will be on hand ready to help out with any information required or assistance they can give with your animals and bio security – visit them in the Livestock Area and the Small Landholders Marquee. Talks, advice and demonstrations on livestock will be in that area as well.

Our theme of Toadstools, Mushrooms and Fungi is generating a lot of interest with a talk from Fungi fanatic Faye Acaro. A stall by Mycocasa – Jay not only grows edible mushrooms but makes mushroom stock and medicinal tinctures. The Discovery Trail for the youngsters also involves searching for toadstools by visiting as many areas as possible.

The Bush verandah is also the place to visit with potting paradise and the worm farm for the young ones and more gardening advice from Susa’s Gardening Sanctuary.

The Café/Entertainment centre has entertainment throughout the day – puppetry, storytelling from the Freedom Fairies and lots more. Around the grounds we have the Mad Tatters dancing, Paul Davies with his wonderful music, the Enchanted Stilt walkers and so much more. There is a new dedicated Gardeners Dell over by the Café/Entertainment area.

Don’t miss Chris Ferreira’s talk and see his demonstration of a firewise garden being installed on site.

There really is something for everyone. Still only $15 for adults, under 16 yrs free entry. Buy tickets at the gate. Gate 6 for credit card and cash. Gate 2 cash only. But we will have QR codes up at each gate. The easiest way is to buy your tickets online in advance at https://events.humanitix.com/the-countryman-gidgegannup-small-farm-field-day/tickets
