New pump track among busy works program for Council

Narrandera Shire Council’s brand new pump track in Marie Bashir Park is now open and ready for riders of all ages and skill levels.

The pump track features smooth, flowing berms and rollers, varied terrain for beginners to advanced riders, a bike-friendly surface that’s easy on tyres as well as nearby parking and amenities.

It is already proving a popular attraction for young riders keen to test their skills.

A report to Council on capital works projects at its March meeting revealed that other works and projects in the shire are well underway.

The new Landervale Fire shed is on schedule to be completed early this year, while the Gillenbah Fire Station Amenities project has also commenced under the guidance of the Rural Fire Service.

A tender has been awarded for the new security fencing and CCTV at the Narrandera Waste Depot with work will start in early 2024. Purchase of the new Traxcavator for the Waste Depot is currently under review.

Further scoping is being undertaken for the Stormwater Improvements Works project and the Urban Stormwater Upgrade detailed design works have been completed.

Lake Talbot Pool remediation works are being prepared and will be undertaken once the pool has closed for the season.

Final commissioning of the Narrandera Park irrigation management system has been completed. Sensors and other equipment are being installed and future works being scoped.

A draft plan for the Memorial Park has been completed and planting list amendments under way. Landscaping is under review because issues were found with the Hankinson Fountain’s water supply.

Procurement has started for the main street festive light upgrade.

Completed projects include the Narrandera Sportsground drainage and soak, Narrandera tennis courts access upgrades and Narrandera playground upgrades.

Playground on the Murrumbidgee projects funded from the Playground on the Murrumbidgee grant have now been completed.

Projects under the Disaster Recovery Funding are awaiting approval from the Office of Local Government Scope and works will commence once the funding has been finalised.

Stairs have been completed at the Brewery Flat connecting the walkway and survey and designs underway for the connecting the path and creek crossing.

Completed projects include the Barellan Pump Track, Narrandera Flora and Fauna Reserve, Senior Citizens Building, Aerodrome Air League and Barellan Sportsground spectator pavilion.

Upgrades for the Lake Talbot reserve have progressed with quotes sourced for the barbecue and seating, shelter works commencing and additional planning under way for further works.

New netball courts in Barellan were completed.

Tender documents are being reviewed for the Community Safety Upgrade Program and installation of the Playground for the Water Tower Recreation upgrade has been completed with the shelter to be constructed early 2024.

Planning reports are being prepared for the Lake Talbot deepening works project and a proposal for the Lake Talbot Area Accessibility project has been received.

Urban laneways have been selected for upgrades with works to commence shortly.

The design is being undertaken for the sewer works at the Red Hill Industrial Estate and the Red Hill Industrial Expansion Design has been awarded.

Water mains replacements will be contracted out and hydrant and valve replacements have already commenced for the 2023-24 financial year.

Additional works will commence on the Integrated Water Cycle Management system upon the completion of the Water Treatment plant scoping study project.

Pine Hill Pump Replacement will be scheduled after the hydraulic model is updated.
