Racers wanted for regatta

Recent stories

A new local event on the Australia Day weekend is certain to attract participants and spectators.

The Khancoban Lakefest incorporating the Khancoban Cup Raft Regatta will be the first of its kind on the picturesque waters of Khancoban Pondage.

The event has been organised by Khancoban Events Inc which expects to see the boat ramp park lined with a flotilla of spectators, colourful crafts and their crazy crews for the fun event.

The competition is expected to be fierce, the costumes wild and the rivalry intense in this inaugural raft regatta as competitors float, splash and paddle their way to the finish line for some great cash prizes, not to mention bragging rights for the entire year.

Local businesses, clubs and organisations are already committed to participating in the event, not only to promote their involvement and association with the Khancoban Lakefest but to also use the regatta as a team building exercise to improve morale and comraderie amongst their team members.

Even though it might be obvious, the saying “it’s the taking part that counts” is true! Whether your raft places first or last, there are many different awards and cash prizes up for grabs. You may be sporting the wackiest fancy dress, have the most creative raft or simply sink straight to the bottom of Khancoban Pondage – all of which gives you the chance to win some great prize money.

Follow the Khancoban Events facebook page for further information.

Nominations are to be received no later than Monday 22nd January, 2024.

Teams will receive race safety notes prior to the regatta. It is recommended that all participants on board familiarise themselves with them.
