Archers out in force

Recent stories

The Donald Archery Club held its annual 2-day competition shoot on the July 8 and 9.

Participants came from many locations, including Bendigo, Mildura, Colac, Geelong, and Bacchus Marsh (and including local members who range from St Arnaud, Warracknabeal, Brim and Donald).

Donald is not a club that sees many compound bows on its archery field, but the weekend said otherwise with a large amount of them on the field. There were also recurve bows, and longbows ranging from traditional shooting (red and green peg and wooden arrows), and modern shooting.

The weekend’s theme was community, and it was certainly there to behold whilst the shoot proceeded. Archers assisting and supporting others were witnessed in so many ways, from the positive reinforcement of shots, correcting anchor points, bringing a newbie into the group, adding an archer into the group that they have never shot with, to helping in the kitchen and with the score recording – the list could go on!

The club also thanks the Donald community members who provided service of any kind to the attendees.
