Weipa has once again put on a show to enhance its reputation as the events capital of Cape York.

The Weipa Fishing Classic had all the Fs – family, fun, fireworks and, of course, fishing.

The pyrotechnics on Friday night were a huge hit, but they were topped with an even greater performance to close Sunday night.

Chris Hamill won the major prize draw, a $60,000 boat, but he was one of four who walked away with a new boat on Sunday.

And three people are off to New Zealand for a fishing trip of a life time, hosted by Mark Berg.
