The Emu Plume Trek which started in Narrandera last weekend is now in the latter stages of its journey to Wagga Wagga after visiting Grong Grong, Ganmain, Coolamon and other villages along the route to Wagga Wagga.
The year 2021 marked 130 years since the emu plume came to symbolise the Australian Light Horse and Australian Light Horse troopers and their military service to Australia with great distinction during a number of conflicts.
To celebrate this milestone, the Australian Light Horse Memorial Committee Riverina South West Slopes is conducting this ride known as the Emu Plume Trek over a distance of 130 kilometres. It started at Narrandera at the weekend and will fiish with an emu plume and slouch hat presentation to the Wagga Wagga RSL Sub-Branch at the Victory Memorial Gardens on Sunday.
Ganmain, Matong, Coolamon, Marrar and Downside are also on the route, with the trek ending at the North Wagga Pony Club grounds.
An auction at the Palm & Pawn Hotel will be held on Sunday.
