For two years, the Casino Truck Show was cancelled because of covid restrictions and the gathering of crowds.

But the trucks are back this year.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 6, coordinated by Richmond Valley Council with support from the North Coast Petroleum  Casino Truck Show Organising Committee.

The truck show is celebrating its ninth year. It started in 2011 by locals Darren Goodwin and the late Tiny Lollback, who both loved the industry and their hometown of Casino.

The idea was borne after the demise of the Lismore Show. The inaugural show was held in the Primex grounds and remained there for three years before moving to the town centre.

Once the show moved into the CBD it just blossomed. In 2019 there were 251 trucks, up from the 207 of 2018.

Council’s service delivery director Angela Jones said with potentially 300 trucks with chrome and alloy shined to perfection and some 40 categories to be won, including the prestigious Tiny Lollback Rig of the Show, it would be a great day for trucking families and the general public.

“Local trucking companies will be joined by an influx of trucks from right around Australia, all vying for more than 50 trophies for best rig,” Ms Jones said.

NCP Casino Truck Show organising committee coordinator Darren Goodwin said he was confident trucks from all over Australia would be attending and there would be cash prizes and trophies for the winners of all the categories.
