‘It’s like being naked.’ Artists exhibit portraits at Bonalbo Unmasked

Bonalbo Artists Alliance exhibition coordinator Vilya de Tozser said 105 portraits featured in the exhibition at Bonalbo Memorial Hall on Saturday, December 11.

Roxy Gallery’s Ruth Tsitimbinis officially opened the exhibition.

“Putting your painting up on the wall is like being naked and everybody else is clothed,” she said of the artists, many for the first time, putting their artworks on show.

“It’s about self-belief which is very important.”

Vilya painted a portrait of former Bonalbo doctor Trevor Tierney.

Graeme Waldron who owns the hardware shop in Bonalbo painted a self-portrait.

Terry Mann painted a portrait of his friend Lawrence McCarthy.

“I’ve taken photos of the personalities in Bonalbo since I got here four years ago,” Terry said.

Earle and Marilyn Grundy said farewell at the exhibition as they leave this week to go and live in Queensland.

Earle and Marilyn Grundy are leaving the area.
