The former franchisee of the local post office and her husband have been accused of stealing more than $400,000 from Australia Post between March 2019 and May 2021.

Appearing via video link in Alice Springs Court, Rebecca and Greg Liebelt are charged with aggravated stealing and obtaining a benefit by deception and money laundering.
Prosecutor Glen Dooley told the court the money was stolen from Australia Post’s banking system, channelled into 30 different bank accounts, three quarters of which were in joint names.
ABC News Alice Springs reported there was an open question how much Mr Liebelt knew about the alleged theft, with the prosecution indicating there were telephone intercepts which showed he had some knowledge of the alleged crimes.
Australia Post took over the operations of the local outlet in May after it dismissed Mrs Liebelt following the charges.
