Controversial floodplain harvesting to be examined by NSW parliamentary inquiry

Who: Cate Faehrmann, Greens MP and spokesperson for water will chair a NSW Upper House Select Committee into the Government’s Management of Floodplain Harvesting. 

What: The committee was established after the disallowance of the Government’s floodplain harvesting regulations in May 2021. Over 3 days the committee will investigate the impacts of floodplain harvesting and the Government’s proposed regulations hearing from environmental, community, irrigator and First Nations groups. The committee will also hear from Bret Walker AO SC who led the South Australian Murray Darling Basin Royal Commission as well as the NSW Water Minister and her Department. 

Where: The hearings will be live-streamed from the NSW Parliament website.

When: from 9:15 am, Monday 20 September, Wednesday 22 September and Friday 24 September
