A Tarpeena timber mill has announced it will be creating more jobs in the region with the construction of a new manufacturing facility at its existing site.
This month, Timberlink will begin developing a treatment plant to produce Light Organic Solvent Preservative (LOSP) treated timber.
LOSP is widely recognised as a more environmentally friendly treatment and produces about 30 times less odour than traditional timber formulations.
Timberlink CEO Ian Tyson said the new facility would support the plant’s future needs.
“This investment in a dedicated treatment plant is another key development in the creation of a world-class timber processing facility in Tarpeena,” Mr Tyson said.
“New permanent roles will be created at the site, in addition to a number of jobs created during construction.”
The Tarpeena mill currently employs around 200 people.
The new project is due for completion in early 2023 and will make way for further future expansions.
