Sixteen students from Irrultja Homeland Learning Centre travelled to nearby Ampilatwatja to join local school students for a two-day athletics carnival.
Of the field events, javelin proved a favourite and impressive distances were thrown despite students being forced to battle into a challenging headwind.
Students and staff alike were forced to react quickly as a box containing award ribbons blew over, scattering across the ground before coming to rest against a fence.
Track and novelty events also proved a hit among competitors with staff from the school emerging victorious over students in the traditional tug-of-war.
