Colourful makeover for local supermarket
The Tennant Creek IGA has been given a colourful makeover thanks to the talented artists from Proper Creative. The award-winning company from Darwin has 15 years experience in art in public spaces, and the colourful wall art depicts a map of the town.
Artfully done – Wool Bay’s tank officially opened
Yorke Peninsula Council’s latest addition to the Southern Yorke Peninsula Water Tower/Tank Mural Trail was officially unveiled at Wool Bay ... Painted and designed by Sam Brooks and Harley Hall, with the assistance of Mark Harding, Rachelle Plazeriano and Gary Nowlan, the art – which adorns a tank and shed on Green Flat Road – follows the story of Wool Bay from Narungga First Nations to European settlement.
Nitsua’s new Maclean mural of Uncle Ron Herron
“I was ready to repaint the mural three days after it got hit, but the process has taken nine months to get to this stage ... I chose this image because he just had a bit more of a grin on his face ... Selfie walls for town
Are you a selfie enthusiast? Then there’s some good news for you, as work has finished on the two selfie walls in the Naracoorte town centre. The selfie-walls project, costing $4,000, aims to further activate the town centre as part of the Naracoorte Town Centre Rejuvenation Plan.
Fitting tribute to a true champion
Caddens artist Shannon Boyd has completed a striking mural of former Narrandera boxer Trevor Christian OAM for the Sydney Region Aboriginal Corp (SRAC). Trevor Christian OAM, Wiradjuri Warrior/Elder, was a Narrandera-born man who passed away December 13, 2011.
Maclean pump station’s new Yaegl elder’s portrait
A development application is currently on public exhibition for a new portrait of Yaegl elder Uncle Ron Herron to be painted on a Maclean pump station after it was graffitied last August in what was described as a ‘kick in the guts for our mob’. The colourful portrait of the widely respected Yaegl elder on the River Street pump station, by street artist Austin ‘Nitsua’ was painted over in white paint over the weekend of August 7 and 8, 2022, with the perpetrator still unknown.
Art at Mali Heart Festival
The Labour Day long weekend saw the Birchip community celebrating its many talents and services at the Mali Heart Festival, as the most recent Mali Heart Art piece nears completion on the Historical Society wall.
Mural’s budget blowout query
Chris Oldfield. SA taxpayers, not ratepayers, will fund a 30 per cent budget blow-out for a mural on the back of the new Naracoorte Public Library facing Ormerod St. Cr Peter Ireland said the mural looked “fantastic” but questioned “why” there was a budget blow-out?
World class artists grace Murrabit
Two very talented street art and design artists have helped the Murrabit Group School students capture the natural world and add some colour to the school. Melbourne based Chuck Mayfield and Brian Itch travel the world with their skills, completing works at festivals, schools, shopping centres, churches, buildings, glow laser tag parlours, video games and hosting their own exhibitions.
Rural mural is signed, sealed delivered – it’s yours, Casino
The mural is finished. It’s been two years in the making but the water tower on the hill overlooking Casino is complete. The mural is broken into four paintings – the swan, the platypus, the farmer and the Indigenous basket weaver.
