The Wool Bay water tank and shed mural was announced the best rural art in the country at the 2023 Australian Street Art Awards ... "This incredible mural is a testament to the creativity and talent of our local artists, and it has truly transformed our community," Yorke Peninsula Council mayor Darren Braund said.

Thirty-four public art experiences have been recognised as the best in the country for art-loving visitors at the Australian Street Art Awards. Designed by lead artist Peter Ryan and brought to life at night with the aid of Illuminart, the silo art was announced as the Best of the Best after taking out the Gold Award in the Mega Mural category and also the Best Street Art Experience in NSW gong.

Congratulations and thanks to artists Jordan and Steve who designed and painted this beautiful mural for Allora. It has become another special attraction for the Best little Town on the Downs.

A magpie with a broken leg is featured on a new mural at Old Bonalbo School. The magpie scores food all around the village. “Everyone thinks the magpie is their magpie,” a resident said.

Will Hunter. Wallaroo has a new mural in its main street ... The work is a reproduction of the piece, Wallaroo 1951, created by internationally recognised artist Jeffrey Smart, and depicts some of the town’s iconic heritage buildings and identities.

Allora locals had the opportunity to vote for their favourite mural to be painted on the wall of the IGA building. There was a good response of 567 votes with 375 going to the red-winged parrot design.

Three recent additions to Yorke Peninsula’s large-scale art scene have been nominated for the 2023 Australian Street Art Awards. Projects at water tanks in Minlacowie and Wool Bay, both completed in the first half of last year, are nominated for Best Mega Mural and Best Rural Art respectively.

Well-known local artists Kerry and Malcolm Nicholson have taken out the top award at Sheffield’s International Mural Fest 2023 held this month in Tasmania. Kerry and Malcolm won the Inder Prize People’s Choice Award with their mural "The Spirit of Adventure".

Patrick Goldsmith. Warooka's art will come alive when augmented reality takes a hold of a new art project called Moving Murals, next year. Through the project, augmented reality enabled murals will be painted on easily accessible walls and structures in Warooka and further south, in a bid to extend the growth of regional art tourism trails on southern Yorke Peninsula and attract people to the town.

The Allora mural designs have been completed and are ready for the Allora community to vote on the winning design. Artists Jordan and Steve have supplied an explanation on each of the designs and have taken on board the ideas so generously shared by the Allora community.
