It’s showtime in Allora

A long-standing family tradition is further enhanced at this year’s Allora Show. The Frank Phelan Memorial Trot sponsored by long established Show supporters Neil and Robyn Phelan will have a slight change in format ... Neil did not inherit the love of horses and he and Robyn are now stewards in the Cattle Section.

Again we have a bumper show planned for 2024. On Farm Cattle Challenge - this is the 2nd year we are running this and we are hoping to continue to build on the success we had last year with the On Farm Challenge.  From feedback last year we have added some extra classes for 2024.

Shearer continues to make strides

Lockhart female shearer Nicki Guttler continues to make a name for herself in the male-dominated field of shearing ... Nicki started off shearing in the Open competition as the only female competing and surprised even herself by coming sixteenth out of 35 leaving quite a few seasoned Open shearers in her wake.

154th Kingston Show, 9-10 December 2023

The 154th Kingston Agricultural Show will take place on the 9th and 10th December 2023. There’s always plenty to see and do at our annual show. Bring the whole family! Saturday is a family events day. Sunday is focussed on our renowned horse show with over 100 classes.

Beauties and the beasts

They would come from Queensland to Tasmania and all parts in between. Some would come ‘just over the hill there’ from a place called Perth. And as anticipated, in they came for the 35th Truck Show held last weekend at the Campbells Creek Sports Ground.

Double show success for Naracoorte High

Kristin Murdock. Naracoorte High School’s Agricultural Studies students and staff had a busy show season competing at both the Royal Adelaide Show and Royal Melbourne Show in September ... This year the school entered six steers and two pens of three wethers in the Royal Adelaide Show, with over 20 students attending.

We are having famous local identity, Mark Donaldson VC will be our Guest of Honour to open the Show.  We are strongly promoting our Rodeo on the Friday night and a return of the Demolition Derby of the Saturday night after our Fireworks.

Hobart Royal gets on with the show despite redevelopment

The Royal Hobart Show horse program had a bit of a shake-up this year due to continuing redevelopment works at the showgrounds. Classes were held at the Tasmanian Equestrian Centre at Lauderdale instead of the Glenorchy site, which has been the home of the royal show since 1904 except for the past two years while work progresses on a new arena and pavilions.

Clunes to finally celebrate its 160th anniversary show, 18 November 2023

The 160th Anniversary of the iconic Clunes Show has been a long time coming for residents and visitors. Cancelled due to the COVID pandemic in 2020 and 2021, it was locked and ready to roll in 2022 when prolonged rains left the grounds unsafe to hold the event.

Geelong is the biggest regional agricultural show in Victoria and it’s a royal to boot. This year saw a new horse committee bring new ideas and energy to the event ... The program catered for every possible competitor ... There were also, importantly, district classes ... classes for Australian Stock Horses ... the Standardbred section ...
