Good crowds attend local poultry show

Southern Downs Poultry Club recently staged their popular Annual Poultry Show and Treaty at the Allora Showgrounds. Exhibitors and interested parties came from many parts of Queensland as well as New South Wales.

Superbikes Championship – 3 days of thrills at Morgan Park

The country’s racing-elite return to our region for Round 5 of the Australian Superbike Championship this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle expects that the event will be a much anticipated and welcome highlight for both spectators and riders.

During Jumpers and Jazz the Allora and District Historical Society organised an amazing Military Display which was held in the Community Hall last Saturday. A piece of equipment that was exhibited created a lot of interest as it could not be identified.

Warwick Hospital welcomes donation

New equipment for the chemotherapy ward has been donated by the Leukaemia Foundation, to help honour a local woman's wish. Darling Downs Health Nurse Unit Manager Robyn Cameron said the staff at Warwick Hospital are extremely grateful.

Laura unveils her statuette

After a two year wait the Laura Geitz Statuette was finally unveiled on Saturday with the help of Tracy Dobie who was Mayor in 2020. A gust of wind arrived just as the unveiling was about to happen, hence the fun photo. The super coach and local Allora hero Wayne Bennett sat by in his comfortable arm chair.

Controversial Mount Marshall feedlot approved

At their Ordinary Council Meeting last Wednesday, Southern Downs Regional Council approved a contentious development application by Arolla Pastoral Company Pty Ltd to build a sheep and cattle feedlot at Mount Marshall ... The feedlot is of much interest to the community, with the application receiving 74 submissions, 11 in favour and 63 against.
