Cup draws pilots from across Australia and overseas

Recent stories

More than 75 pilots competed in the recent Corryong Cup Hang Gliding competition on Mt Elliot including entrants from all over Australia and some from Norway, America, England and Ireland.

Event organisers, HG Comps, have thanked local land owners for their generosity and understanding including the winner of the land owner prize, David Mitchell. Thanks also go to the Bendigo Bank (Community Bank Mt Beauty – Major Sponsor) for their generous funding of $9950.36,” said Tracey Meyer from HG Comps.

“This enabled us to purchase 25 camp chairs which were placed at launch, bomb-out and the goal paddock. They also sponsored short and long sleeve t-shirts and hoodies for the competition.

“A mid-week social evening ‘Karaoke and Curry’ night at the Tintaldra pub was run with all attendees having a great time, winning prizes, earning valuable points toward their team score and having an awesome time doing it.

“So much fun was had that it is likely to become a regular event!

“Thanks to Darren Jones for serving up some great food and putting up with our sometimes okay but mostly shocking singing. Thank you to this year’s other sponsors Black Sheep Café, Podiatrist’s Own, Corryong IGA, Family Chiropractor, Moyes Gliders and Jason Lannstrom watches.”

“We are always on the lookout for ways we can work in with the community and welcome any suggestions and comments to help improve the experience for everyone involved,” Tracey added.

Next year’s competition is from the 9th to 16th January 2027. If you are a local and would like to get involved as a team driver email HG Comps at corryongcup@hgcomps.com.au.
