Country Racing Victoria held its 2024/2025 awards night at the Melbourne convention centre on Saturday, August 23, where the “Buloke Times” was honoured to be named winner of the Jack Styring Country Racing Media award.
The award followed a submission of three editions of this humble paper, in which reports could be found covering last year’s Donald Cup, and the most recent Donald and District Club meeting, compiled by Peter Hibberd and Quill McQuilty. These pages, including race results, trackside entertainment, and fashions on the field, were judged as best capturing the spirit of country racing.
With Peter Hibberd unable to attend, Quill McQuilty accepted the award on behalf of the whole “Buloke Times” staff, who work hard to produce the finished product and ensure our community race clubs are presented in the best light.
Many thanks to Country Racing Victoria for this incredible honour and to the Donald and District Racing Club for continuing to host events on which the “Buloke Times” can report.
• More to come (from Quill’s nervous perspective) in Friday’s edition of the “Times”.
