Byron Writers Festival ready to welcome you

Australian Rural & Regional News reminds readers that a media release is a statement of the author given. Media releases vary widely in reliability and may contain a combination of fact, aspirational statements, opinion, political commentary and even error. Especially on contentious issues, we suggest our readers read widely and assess the statements made by different parties and form their own view.

Byron Writers Festival, Media Release, 1 August 2025

Literary lovers, mark your calendar! Byron Writers Festival kicks off Friday 8 August and is set to ignite imaginations, stir conversations, and celebrate the power of stories at the picturesque Bangalow Showground on Bundjalung Country.

From the heartfelt Welcome to Country with Delta Kay on Friday at 8.45am to the joyous Shire Choir singalong finale on Sunday at 4:30pm, the festival will present over 160 writers from Australia, Canada, India, and the UK who will deliver over 110 sessions packed with inspiration, passion and purpose and beyond.

Final tickets are still available, and options are flexible. Grab a 3-Day Pass to experience it all from Friday to Sunday, or tailor your weekend with a 1-Day Pass to the day that speaks to you. There are dedicated tickets for the Kids Program on Sunday 10 August, and literary superfans can extend their experience with exclusive Feature and Satellite Events featuring special guests.

At Byron Writers Festival, the story doesn’t end with the final word. After each session, head to the Moller Pavilion for book signings where you can meet your literary heroes, get your books personally signed, and continue the conversation. All featured titles are available at the official festival bookstore, The Book Room Collective – your one-stop shop for discovering new voices and beloved favourites.

Beyond the books, the festival delivers a number of food and beverage options. A curated selection of local food stalls will serve up everything from vegan bites to gluten-free feasts, while artisan coffee carts will keep you warm – don’t forget your reusable cup! When the sun sets and the sessions wrap, the conversation continues at the Festival Bar in the A&I Hall, open Friday and Saturday from 4:30pm.

Getting to the festival is easy thanks to the free shuttle bus running hourly between Byron Bay Interchange, Cavanbah Centre, and the Bangalow Showground. If you want to drive, be sure to pre-purchase a $10 parking pass per day – carpooling is strongly encouraged. Gates open daily at 8am.

Whether you’re a diehard bookworm or a curious newcomer, come and be immersed in the art of living. Byron Writers Festival is a celebration you don’t want to miss.
