A call to action for the future of volunteering: Volunteering Australia

Australian Rural & Regional News reminds readers that a media release is a statement of the author given. Media releases vary widely in reliability and may contain a combination of fact, aspirational statements, opinion, political commentary and even error. Especially on contentious issues, we suggest our readers read widely and assess the statements made by different parties and form their own view.

Volunteering Australia, Media Release, 18 June 2025

2026 is the International Year for Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY 2026) and we have an opportunity to shape its legacy.

Volunteering Australia invites you to join a global dialogue as part of the Call to Action for the Future of Volunteering, led by the International Association of Volunteer Effort (IAVE) and international partners.

This is our chance to ensure that Australia has a strong voice in the global agenda for the future of volunteering.

In this 60-minute session we will explore:

  • What needs to change to better recognise and support volunteering?
  • Who has the power to make it happen?
  • What is Australia’s role in an international volunteering ecosystem?

Join us on 24 June to make sure Australia’s voice is represented on the global stage.
