Recent stories

The 2024 Dux of Cohuna Secondary College, Ebony Black, has headed to Canberra to begin her Officer Training in the Army. Alongside her training she will complete a Bachelor degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of New South Wales campus in Canberra. Ebony’s long term goal is to work with helicopters in the Army.

In Year 12, Ebony studied English, Maths Methods, Physics, Biology and Year 12 Health and Human Development. Ebony is a resilient and focussed young person who overcame any challenges that came her way. It is a credit to Ebony that she achieved an ATAR score of 85.6. She already had an early offer from the Australian Defence Force prior to university places being released.

Ebony has begun her 5 weeks of Basic Familiarity Training in the Army, and from the 24th February, she will begin her university studies. Congratulations, Ebony on achieving your target at the end of Year 12.

Ebony received her $2000 Dux Award from Dr. Gaell Hildebrand, representing the Narelle Sue Hildebrand Memorial Trust Fund. Narelle was a Cohuna High School student who went on to study Arts/Commerce at the University of Melbourne, but sadly died in a car accident before she completed her course.
