New radio studio opening

And verily it came to pass that after a quarter of a century of non-stop broadcasting to the residents of the Nimbin Valley, the volunteer presenters at Nim-FM gathered together to celebrate the re-opening of their primary broadcast Studio, which had undergone a total refit from the floor up.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Northern Rivers Community Foundation with which to purchase a new broadcasting console and an equally generous donation from an anonymous (but very good looking) member of the local community to refurbish the studio, we now have a broadcast space that shimmers and gleams in softly-carpeted silence.

Special thanks to Jenny for the paint, to Nimbin Building Materials for the donated camphor slab which builder Don transformed into our new guest desk, and to Bob for all the technical stuff. And of course to all the helpers who pitched in. This is truly what makes a community.

OK, look, while I’ve got your ear, don’t forget that Nim-FM is always looking for new members and new ideas for radio programming.

Pop down to the office and jump in. You’ll be amazed at how satisfying it is.

At the Grand Opening, special guests were two of the original studio builders and presenters, Paul Le Bars and Farren Hogan, with a phonein from Russel Anderson in Melbourne. If not for their efforts and know-how, Nim- FM would still be a dream.

And so, lift your scones, jam and cream in a toast to Community Radio and the next 25 years at Nim-FM, Voice of the Alternative Nation.
