Kaniva’s drinking water upgrade is scheduled to be finished supplying treated water supply to Kaniva by December 2024.
Kaniva is the largest town in the GWMWater service area that is yet to receive a drinking water supply.
GWM’s Mark Williams, Managing Director said, “Water will be sourced from the Grampians reservoir system and treated at Dimboola Water Treatment Plant before being transferred to Kaniva by a pipeline.
Construction at the Kaniva Facility Site is now complete, and works at the Dimboola Water Treatment Plant Upgrade are expected to be completed in March 2024.
Planning investigations and approvals are underway for the water transfer pipelines and facility sites along the pipeline route.
Approvals are expected to be finalised in early 2024.”
A tender for pipeline construction was released in December 2023 and will close mid-February 2024.
