The hunt is on today!

Recent stories

The end of term 1 and Easter is fast approaching, and the local children in Birchip are enjoying a number of Easter traditions that make this time of year all the more fun and exciting.

One such widely loved tradition is the delightful Easter egg hunt, which fortunately has changed quite a lot since the medieval period when eating eggs was forbidden during the 40-day period of Lent leading up to Easter Sunday, when there was feasting and merriment, and eggs were considered an important part of the celebrations.

The Birchip playgroup children had lots of fun on Friday in the park scavenging for eggs and were delighted with their results, as they devoured the chocolate and played in the ever-popular Morton Bay Fig trees and on the playground equipment.

Today (Tuesday, April 4), the Birchip Youth Group will be hosting their annual Easter Egg hunt at the park for the children in four-year-old kinder and primary school. The festivities start at 3 p.m. and conclude at 4.30 p.m..

Luckily now we get to enjoy delicious chocolate treats for a much longer period of time, as well as Sharp’s divine hot cross buns.
