Greater Shepparton City Council, Media Release, 7 September 2022

Greater Shepparton’s popular Moooving Art collection continues to grow as Council welcomes a new member to the herd this week.

Introducing Moobird, designed by talented Mooroopna artist Mandy Charquero, Moobird is inspired by the region’s very own Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton and the native birds which can be found there, and around our region.

Mandy Charquero is no stranger to the Moooving Art herd, she is the artist behind some more colourful bovines, Poppy, Endurance, Daisy, Sunny Fields and Blossom, who can all currently be spotted across the region.

The design on Moobird is even more meaningful to Mandy as her children helped with the designs, having drawn some of the birds which feature on the cow.

The timing of Moobird’s arrival has been perfect as the Australian Botanic Gardens come to life in Spring and the school holidays approach said Council’s acting Visitor Experience Coordinator Jessica Watt.

“This time of year is perfect to visit the Botanic Gardens as everything starts to bloom, and for the month of September the Visitor Centre will showcase a little part of the gardens with a pop-up display from the Friends of the Botanic Gardens.”

“We are very excited to have received Moobird this month and look forward to showing her off to the community, especially with the upcoming Moooving Art Roundup approaching this school holidays.  We encourage the community to explore our region this Spring, and take the time to see all of the wonderful Moooving Art cows.”

Moobird is currently located at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre at the SAM building before it moves to the Botanic Gardens.

Meet the Moooving Art herd, they are full of colour, spunk and personality. With more than 90 cows scattered throughout the region you can find them in public gardens, playgrounds and businesses.
