The Barossa Council, Media Release, 14 September 2021

Through grant funding provided via the Commonwealth Government’s Drought Communities Programme (DCP) Extension new water standpipes have been installed in Eden Valley, Moculta and Mount Pleasant.

The standpipes will support those within the council area who do not have access to reticulated water supplies and may have limited access via other sources due to ongoing drought conditions.

“The new water infrastructure will bring much needed relief to these communities through extra capacity and security for primary producers, plus critical access in emergencies – power permitting.”  :Mayor Bim Lange

All three standpipes are now fully operational and available for use 24/7.

Each electronic standpipe is operated by a QR code which links to an online pre-payment system.

Alternatively, a pre-paid swipe card can be purchased from Council’s principal office in Nuriootpa during office hours.
