Evans Head surfers are stoked to back one of their own as he steps on to the world circuit.

Halftide Boardriders club at Evans Head is trying to raise $25,000 to help club member Callum Robson compete overseas.

Mr Robson, 20, has made the cut for the World Surf League Qualifying Series.

The series determines which surfers are added to the next World Championship Tour.

Halftide Boardriders has contributed $1000 toward the event and the first part is the Vans US Open in California at the end of the month.

From there funds are needed to travel to Portugal and France and the event concludes in Hawaii at the end of the year.
