The Gilgandra Jockey Club will be running once again the Collie Cup on Saturday 21 August 2021 at the Gilgandra Racecourse, Newell Highway, Gilgandra.
The Gilgandra Racecourse is situated 450kms from Sydney on the Western Plains. Gilgandra is a noted “speed track” on a loam base covered with a generous matting of Kikuyu turf. The Gilgandra track is 1663m in circumference, 20m in width, with a straight length of 200m, hence the reputation for being a speed track.
The feature race is the 1280metres Collie Cup, sponsored by the Collie Hotel. Prizemoney has increased an additional $2,000 and is now $17,000
The race day consists also of a number of Memorial Races paying respect to local families : Cam & Dorothy Carmichael Memorial, Mick & Margaret Brophy Memorial, Keith Kilby Memorial, and Bob & Clare Coxsedge Memorial Races.
Full food and bar facilities will be available, a Tab van will be on site, along with local bookmakers and there will be a Fashion on the Field competition.
