Little did Pam Dillon know when she accepted a six-month contract to come to Tennant Creek that it would develop into a 10-year passion for delivering sports education to communities and schools in the Barkly.
Dillon honoured with prestigious education award
Tennant’s own Pam Dillon has been recognised as a Leader in Education at the Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards, held on World Teacher’s Day last Friday. Pam has been teaching for 40 years, of which 10 of these years have been spent working in Indigenous education in the Northern Territory.
Students represent the Barkly at athletics championships
Pam Dillon. Last week, 13 students from seven remote schools represented the Barkly in the NT Athletics Championships in Darwin. The students participated in a variety of running, jumping, and throwing events over three days along with athletes from other regions and athletic clubs across the territory.
Boys do the Barkly proud at ASPA footy championships
Dre Jackson from Elliott and Duqarn Foster from Tennant Creek were chosen to represent the NT at Australian School Sport Australian Football Championships held in NSW. The cold conditions had all the players making sure their beanies and scarfs were in great use off the field.
School Sport NT recognised for support of defence workers
School of Sport Education NT won an Honourable mention award at the recent 2023 Defence NT/K Employer Support Awards held in Darwin. This is the second year in a row that School of Sport Education NT has been recognised for their support to Barkly Region Sport Education Coordinator Pam Dillon’s army reserve service, winning the public sector award category in 2022.
Army reservist recognises supportive employer

For Barkly-based physical education teacher Sergeant Pam Dillon, consecutive civilian employers have paved the way for her distinguished military career.
Dillon takes out NT Safe Sports Award
Local school sports legend Pam Dillon has been honoured by winning in the annual NT Sports Awards. Fondly renowned in the region as Dillon, she took out the Karen Schneider SMA Safer Sport Award at a ceremony in Darwin on the weekend.
