Our very own Story Dog
Wyreema State School is lucky enough to have access to its own Story Dog, Lady, on a weekly basis and the students love reading to her. Lady is directly sponsored by the Toowoomba West Lions Club but the program itself is run by the charity, Story Dog Australia, which covers the training and insurance of the dog.
Putting ‘Region’ into Toowoomba Region

This motion passed unanimously.
Survey shows rural debt rise since 2019
Rural debt has increased by $3.34 billion, or 13.89 per cent, on the Eastern Darling Downs regions according to the 2021 Queensland Rural Debt Survey. Over the same period, total rural debt in Queensland has risen to $24.06 billion, an increase of 25.97 per cent ... Since the survey was conducted in December 2021, much of the State has experienced an extended La Niña season with several major flooding events, particularly in South East Queensland.

New owner at Bull & Barley Inn
Cambooya's iconic Bull & Barley Inn has a new owner with Mick Dewar taking over from Bruce Dell, who has owned the hotel for the last 15 years. The historic pub was built in 1902 when it was named the Cambooya Railway Hotel.
Cambooya man charged with murder
Detectives have charged 24-years-old Lachlan Mark Freund of Cambooya in relation to the alleged murder of 25-years-old Thor Morgan in March ... Following an extensive investigation as part of Operation Uniform Tyne, police dive squad officers recovered a firearm from a northern branch of the Condamine River on July 26, which police will allege was the weapon used in the incident.
Olympic gold for Toowoomba region
The 2032 Olympic Games may seem to be a long way off but a task force of regional leaders has already been formed with the objective of identifying how the Toowoomba region can benefit from the vast capital expenditure needed to host the Games. One exciting piece of infrastructure being floated by Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Paul Antonio is the prospect of the long awaited fast train connection from Toowoomba to Brisbane.
