Grants deliver $27k+ for community
Five local groups are among winners from the latest round of Toowoomba Regional Council community grants, with RM Equestrian Centre securing the lion’s share of the $27,106.59 total. Across the Region, 54 successful applications totalled $237,437.76 and 16 applications were not approved.

The historic Harrow Homestead between Cambooya and Southbrook has been sold for $18,803,300. The expansive property on Cambooya Felton Road covers 1568 hectares or 3874.6 acres.

Vale View State School prepares for STEM future
Seven schools in the Darling Downs South West region, including Vale View State School, are taking part in the Additive Manufacturing and STEM 3D Printing Primary Schools Project ... “Finding creative ways to teach STEM to children will ensure we capture the next generation of problem solvers and will prevent a skills shortage that could affect important industries such as manufacturing”: Queensland Minister for Manufacturing Glenn Butcher.
Making the most of spring
The flowers are blooming and the birds are chirping as we experience a green (and rather wet) start to spring here in the Central Downs. With the end of September fast approaching, if you are yet to do so there is still time to see the colourful flower arrays in Laurel Bank Park, Queens Park and elsewhere in the city.
What a great fete!
Vale View State School was the place to be last Saturday, its fete a huge success with a crowd numbering in the hundreds turning up to support a small local school ... Crowds were kept entertained by the student performances, MC and singer Victoria Q, Garbage to Garments Fashion Parade and performances by Tornados All Stars, JE Dancehouse, Radiance Academy Toowoomba and Pinkies on Ice.
Bat Lyssavirus on Darling Downs
Darling Downs residents are being warned not to “wing it” when it comes to sick or injured bats after a confirmed case of Australian Bat Lyssavirus (ABLV) in Kingsthorpe. The injured bat was found in a back yard in August with residents alerting appropriate authorities.
Quilters raise funds for Emerge
Toowoomba Quilters Club is taking its needlework in a new direction by raising money for Emerge Youth Services. At the Launch of the Club’s annual Charity Art Union, Toowoomba Quilters Club members heard about Emerge Youth Services from the organisation’s passionate CEO and Founder, Jen Shaw.
