Cambooya Pony Club’s success

Allora Pony Club’s Working Horse Draft and Gymkhana saw Cambooya Pony Club win the March Past and secure the trophy for the club gaining Highest Points ... There were riders from 21 Pony Clubs compete over the weekend, with riders travelling from Mt Mee, Blackbutt, Kumbia, Dalby, Fassifern, Laidley, Goondiwindi and in between.

Cambooya’s cross country champs

With the help of the local community to get them there, Cambooya teenagers Kyrna and Tomas Crump both won medals at the Australian Cross Country Championships in Adelaide. Representing their state, the pair competed in both individual and team events.

New Toowoomba Hospital construction underway

Early enabling works have begun at the Baillie Henderson campus as part of the new $1.3 billion Toowoomba Hospital. Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said the works, which include electrical works, are now underway and these will become more visible later this year when bulk earthworks at Baillie Henderson commence.

Our very own Story Dog

Wyreema State School is lucky enough to have access to its own Story Dog, Lady, on a weekly basis and the students love reading to her. Lady is directly sponsored by the Toowoomba West Lions Club but the program itself is run by the charity, Story Dog Australia, which covers the training and insurance of the dog.

Putting ‘Region’ into Toowoomba Region

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is looking into ways of better connecting with residents outside Toowoomba City by potentially holding meetings in regional towns ... motion proposed ... will see a report outline a variety of options and officer recommendations for additional engagement of councillors into regional communities, to be presented in October. This motion passed unanimously.

Survey shows rural debt rise since 2019

Rural debt has increased by $3.34 billion, or 13.89 per cent, on the Eastern Darling Downs regions according to the 2021 Queensland Rural Debt Survey. Over the same period, total rural debt in Queensland has risen to $24.06 billion, an increase of 25.97 per cent ... Since the survey was conducted in December 2021, much of the State has experienced an extended La Niña season with several major flooding events, particularly in South East Queensland.
