Bee prepared this swarm season

As the weather warms up and plants start to bloom for Spring, bee populations will start to increase again. Apiarist Alicia Vohland, owner of Windy Acres Farm between Westbrook and Wyreema, said swarming is the natural process of honey bee colonies expanding to form new colonies.

Nobby State School celebrates 125th

Polo season finishes

Gary Hoey. The Downs Club hosted the 30th anniversary Sapphire Polo Carnival last weekend. This tournament was started by Hugh Fisher in Goondiwindi in 1992 and moved to Clifton in 2001. Blessed by fine weather and a large number of teams it turned out to be a magnificent finale to the Downs Polo Club Tournament season.

Age no barrier for Roy Barsby

The Tom Quilty Gold Cup is a tough challenge for any endurance rider, yet Wyreema’s Roy Barsby, at 71 years of age, not only completed the course but won the heavyweight division. Riding Dumaresq Suleiman, a horse he saved from being turned into dog food, Mr Barsby completed the 160 kilometre (100 miles) course in 13 hours and 40 minutes, over an hour quicker than second place.

Wyreema medical centre in the works

Residents of Wyreema may no longer have to travel out of town to visit a doctor or dentist. A development application has been submitted to Toowoomba Regional Council to construct a dental and medical practice on the corner of Newman Road and Balfour Street (Toowoomba Karara Road).

Mr Littleproud has also called for the immediate offer of 3D X-ray technology at Indonesian airports ... Shaughn Morgan, co-CEO eastAUSmilk, advocates for all other shoes being carried by passengers to be inspected and disinfected as necessary. He also believes travel restrictions would be a sensible approach.
