Teens arrested for Peko Park fire

Two teenagers have been arrested for the arson attack on the Peko Park public toilet earlier this week ... Barkly Regional Council CEO Steve Moore said enough is enough. “We have had our supermarket burned down, now our public toilets, what next? How long before someone is injured or killed?"

The Papulu Apparr-Kari Aboriginal Corporation is currently working on eight books to be a resource of plants and animals in the Indigenous languages they work with. They are selling merchandise and seeking support to help continue with their many language projects.

Orchestra highlight for Tennant kids

The gladrags were dusted off on Saturday night for Oz Opera’s performance of Bizet’s Carmen at the Civic Hall. Five local children had the amazing opportunity to take part in the event, performing two songs in French and impressing everyone with their acting abilities.

Beanies off to Barkly winners

The Community Hub hosted felting workshops in June to create beanies for the Alice Springs Beanie Festival. Entries were sent down for display, judging and possible sale, and life went on. So it was a pleasant surprise to find three of the entries won awards.

World War II vehicle show to hit the Barkly

More than 140 genuine World War II vehicles and over 15 post war support vehicles would normally be making their way to Alice Springs from all over Australia for the official start of Back to the Track on 1 August.

Nyinkka Nyunyu hosts NAIDOC Week finale

Catherine Grimley. Tennant Creek’s NAIDOC festivities ended on a high note on Saturday with a community gathering at Nyinkka Nyunyu. Tjupi Band played their hearts out for the crowd, even being joined on stage by Mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin, who got a reminder of how long it has been since he played hand drums, and what muscles he needs to use to play them.
