At last commonsense has prevailed. Southern Downs Regional Council has listened to community concern over the decision to not extend the management agreement for the operation of the Allora Pool with current operator Andrew Fidge at the end of the 2024 season.

Allora Bowls notes – Round 13

An exciting night of bowls to finish off the season with the winners for the Summer competition Gina’s Babies on 21 and the runners up Cool Cats on 18. Congratulations to both teams. The team names will be added to the Lyn Wright Night Bowls Championship Shield.

Special Anzac service at Goomburra

This year the Goomburra Town Hall recently constructed Memorial Garden was the nucleus for the Anzac Day Service. Although numbers were small it was a touching service presented by Jenny Newton and Mary-Lou Gittins OAM.

ANZAC Day in Allora – 25 April 2024

99 year old Veteran Des Donovan received a surprise visit by his niece Kerrie and nephews Maurice and Peter Donovan. An extra treat for Des was a greeting from a very friendly and nosey horse from the Darling Downs Eleventh Light Horse Regiment.

Musical performance at Homestead

On Monday guests at The Homestead in Allora were treated to an unexpected performance by two accomplished musicians who were visiting the town. It all started just outside Allora when the caravanning couple from South Australia had car trouble ... While this is unfortunate for the visitors it has been a bonus for Allora.
