Wetlands stage nears finish
Stage one of the Corryong Wetlands project is getting closer to finalisation as local contractor Greg Hillier puts the finishing touches on the two creek crossings. “We are really happy with the survival rate of our tree and shrub plantings and working in with Corryong College who have had eight official visits to the wetlands in the last two years,” said co-president, John Murphy.
Rate rise kept to a minimum
The Towong Shire Council has adopted its 2024/25 Budget which focuses on roads maintenance. “We recognise that we’re facing challenging economic times and on that basis, we believe the budget strikes the right balance between ensuring your rates are being invested efficiently and effectively while meeting all the needs of our community,” said Towong mayor, Cr Andrew Whitehead.
Writer proposed for park honour
The author of the renowned ‘Silver Brumby’ series of books, Elyne Mitchell, has been nominated to have a park named after her. Wodonga Council is seeking feedback on a proposal for the Elyne Mitchell Park to be established in the Kinchington Estate on the southern outskirts of the city.
