The Nhill Show is on tomorrow ... with action starting at 8:30 am and wrapping up at 9:00 pm with the magnificent fireworks display. From shearing competitions to the animal nursery and home industries, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained throughout the day.
Prepare your property ahead of increased fire risk
CFA is urging residents to prepare their properties ahead of the fire danger period, with parts of Victoria facing an early start to fire season. The AFAC seasonal outlook for Spring, released last month, predicts an increased fire risk in west and southwest Victoria, following a notably dry Autumn and Winter.

Nhill’s first flyer – and then some
John Williams. In the pioneering years of aviation, Nhill’s first man in the air, Ivan Sinclair Young helped put the town at the forefront of flight along with Fred Mckenzie of the Nhill Free Press. (Sinclair was his mother’s maiden name) Yes, he was a "Magnificent Man in a Flying Machine." However, he was not a glamorous pilot or ace. He was still brave, though.
Top price record falls at Janmac
Jamie-Lee Oldfield. Renewed positivity in the lamb industry and continued support of good genetics was evident at the Janmac annual on-property ram sale on Wednesday. The Hausler family achieved a stud record high price for a Poll Dorset, as well as a very solid clearance across both breeds.
Nhill and Kaniva paramedics and ACOs honoured at awards
Local paramedics and ACOs from the Nhill and Kaniva branches were recently recognised for their dedication and service at the Grampians Staff Service Awards ... The awards celebrated the outstanding contributions of paramedics, acknowledging their long service and commitment to safe driving.

Off to the Show
Percy Leason’s iconic cartoon ‘Off to the Show, or The Man They Left Behind Them’ graces the cover of this year’s Kaniva Show schedule. To coincide with the Wiregrass project, Kaniva and District Progress Association will showcase a small temporary exhibition of several of Leason’s never-before-seen cartoons, highlighting various aspects of agricultural shows.
