Hay Lions 17s win netball tournament

Jade Auldist. The Hay Lions Under-17s delivered an outstanding performance at the Swan Hill Junior Netball Tournament, securing the Grand Final win after a day of fierce competition, teamwork, and determination.

Bikers rally for charity

A phenomenal 26th annual Shag Gregory Memorial Poker Run was held on Saturday, attracting a staggering 188 poker hands and well over 200 participants ... The poker run is held every year in memory of local Shag (Edward) Gregory, raising money for Motor Neurone Disease, local charities and school scholarships.

Geoff and Ace win top dog at Gundagai Show

Geoff McDougall and champion kelpie Ace recently won the open section of the South West Slopes Championships Working Dog Trial ... Yard dog trials are competitions that test the skills of dogs and their handlers in guiding sheep around a course.

Crusaders take home cricket grand final honours

Tom Mcgufficke. It was the final showdown between Riverina Rattlers and South Hay Crusaders; the Hay Cricket Association Grand Final. It proved to be a vital toss that was won by Crusaders captain Simon Bunyan, who chose to bat first on a grassy wicket.

Booligal buys back its church

Financial support is sought to help the community of Booligal retain their beloved St Alban’s Church building. "The community is thrilled to announce that the Diocese has accepted our offer to purchase St Alban’s," spokesperson Alison Crossley said.

Tough day for Hay cricketers

Mick Cattanach. After their record-breaking win last week, Hay cricketers experienced a trialling set of matches, being defeated in the O’Farrell and Creet Cups. They fought valiantly for the wins, and put in superlative efforts despite their losses.

Mick Cattanach. “The best win of all time,” Hay cricketing legend David Davies. It was a once in 100 years result. As the O’Farrell cup celebrates 100 years in November, a result such as this has not been seen before.
