Wallaby Creek Festival, Media Release, 10 September 2025
This year we have a full line-up of 30 acts for the stages, a Youth program, a Children’s Festival program and Workshops!
Cape York Folk Club Inc. are proud to present headliners like Anthony Forrest, Fat Picnic and Kingfisha, who will have the crowd pumping to sublime reggae, dub and modern rock! Remember that all our music is live, on three stages, over three days. Female duo’s Salt & Steel and Hussy Hicks wowed our audiences in the past and have been invited back to share their high-energy music!
Our camping festival is like no other in Australia with something for everyone, from 3 years old to 100! Workshops on offer this year range from Clay Play to Juggling, Flow Skills, Acro 4 All, Dance Craft, Coconut Culture Weaving, Drumming & Hula Dance and a Kuku Nyungkul Culture and Plant Walk With a local Indigenous Elder. Alternative workshops like Psilocybin Magic Mushrooms, Soma Lumens – Breath, Body & Vibrational Awakening and the Infinity Flag workshop are new this year, along with the Sovereignty Circle, both these last two are about connection, one through music, the other to find personal truth. Our favourite astronomers from Night Sky Secrets, Ian and Rose, will be at Wallaby once again and ‘standard’ workshops like Ukulele for Kids and Kirtan – a vocal yoga practice, complement our more ideological workshops.
We are proud of our grounds, fully recovered (except Wallaby Creek bank) from Cyclone Jasper for this wide range of performances and Poets breakfas. We are having working bees to prepare for the festival every weekend from 8:30am Saturday, volunteer hours count towards your ticket in, or go to our website and click on Volunteers and sign up for the festival, we still need help during the event itself.
Wallaby prides itself on its environmental focus, choosing to recycle, repair & reuse resources. We have an active ‘Trash Fairy’ group who educate campers on litter solutions (see pic). We have a marketplace with food for sale and our stallholders uphold our environmental policy.
We are looking forward to a bigger crowd than last year as we have more camp spaces available. Tickets are selling but it would be great to know more people are coming so please go to www.wallabycreekfestival.org.au and buy your tickets! Cheaper on-line and only $200 if you are an adult local with the 4895 postcode, this includes camping for three nights.
