Charlton 14 def. by Boort 39.

17-&-Under “A”

Attackers combined well using front cuts and strong movements to bring the ball down the court and create valuable scoring opportunities. The midcourters fed well into the ring. Charlton defenders once again worked tirelessly to shut down Boort’s attacking end by applying consistent pressure. Overall the girls started really well and were with Boort for most of the game. Unfortunately a lapse in the second half allowed Boort to pull away with the win. A huge congratulations to Rosie Fitzpatrick who stepped up for her first game of under-17s and earned herself the “Have a crack” award.

“C” Grade

With lots of speed in their legs the attacking end tried to keep the ball down Charlton’s end, but the second half of the game saw some strong defenders which challenged Charlton’s game. Its defenders looked just as strong this week with Erin Blair particularly bringing more determination and fight to the game. Both ends of the court were privileged to have the very promising up and coming juniors. The girls were competitive the whole game, even keeping the score line within 10 goals at the first half break. Well done to all.

“B” Grade

Starting well particularly in Charlton’s attacking end; however, shooting accuracy wasn’t helping its score line. Boort came out very strongly with Holly Thompson and Anika Holmes-Brown kept busy with a very tall shooter. Few more things for Charlton to focus on as a team as it gets into this last half of the season.

“A” Grade

Tough game for the Charlton girls this week, a few positional changes in the attack end to try and make things work. Claudia Lee stepped back into GA and shot beautifully. A great consistent game for Charlton’s defence end with Claire Smith providing the height the team needed against Boort’s GS. Unfortunately Navy Blue girls just couldn’t get a full 4 quarter performance, with Boort pushing its lead out by the final whistle.
