Micah spreads Christmas kindness and cheer

Recent stories

Micah Campbell, an 11 year old Narrandera Public School captain with a love for leading and serving his school community and a passion and enthusiasm for life and people, has mounted a campaign to make Christmas brighter in his town and overseas.

Micah was recently inspired while packing Christmas boxes for disadvantaged children in war-torn countries and is now on a mission to spread Christmas kindness and cheer to local disadvantaged children as well as the lonely elderly residents from his home town of Narrandera.

Having raised well over his target, Micah has been blown away by the generosity that has been shown and is now busy purchasing and packing small gift boxes filled with quality items including toys, clothes, personal care items, school supplies, crafts and activities to gift to disadvantaged kids or those doing it tough in Narrandera.

He is also filling small gift bags with baked Christmas treats and small meaningful gifts for those who need them.

To distribute these gift bags he will be dressing up in his inflatable Santa suit and roller skates and joining the Narrandera Meals on Wheels team for their visits to Teloca House and Opal Nursing Home spreading Christmas cheer on Christmas Day.

“I just thought it would be a really kind thing to do this Christmas. As a leader at my school, alongside local Kids Club and Youth Group programs, I see a lot of kids who are in need in my town. My nan also recently spent some time at Teloca and Opal. The residents there were always filled with joy when my sisters and I visited,” he said.

Micah’s mission to spread Christmas cheer

“I realised there are a lot of lonely elderly people in those facilities. Compassion is a beautiful thing but it’s not enough to just have compassion. Compassion should always leads us to action.”

Whilst no longer accepting monetary donations (he has already exceeded his goal of $1500) people can still show their support by donating quality items to fill boxes and gift bags and dropping them off at the Narrandera CRC bookshop.

“I created this fundraiser for those of my family, friends and members of the wider community who would like to support and assist me in helping to spread the Christmas cheer this year. I will be using my own savings to pack as many boxes and gift bags as I can and your generous and thoughtful donations will help me to reach more people than I possibly could on my own and will be greatly accepted and appreciated!

“I anticipate that each child’s gift box will cost around $40 to pack and each gift bag around $15. Your donation, however big or small, has the power to transform a life and bring hope and joy to those who need it most!” he said.
