Ganmain Triathlon proves as popular as ever

With 292 participants registered to take part in the Ganmain Triathlon on Sunday, the day was an astounding success.

101 triathletes took part in the Open Sprint race, with Ed Langdon first over the line with a time of 55:30, while he was closely followed by Jared Kahlefeldt finishing in 57:30.

The first female over the line was Radka Kahlefeldt with a time of 58:43.

Kelsey Tobin was next female to finish and tenth overall, a fantastic result, her time being 1:06:39.

There is $2000 in prizemoney up for grabs for any athlete that wins all 4 races in the Riverina Tri-Series series, with the next triathlon at Holbrook on Sunday, March 12 followed by West Wyalong on Sunday March 26.

Ganmain was the second triathlon in the series and the community spirit on display is always a highlight with record Junior and Sub-Junior entrants this year.

The enticer and team events are also growing in popularity and the crowd support is as strong as ever.

Hosted by the Ganmain Grong Grong Matong Lions Junior Football and Netball Club, the Triathlon is their major fundraiser with all volunteer hands were on deck to help the event to run smoothly.

Major sponsors Beyond Bank and MH Premium Farms as well as many other businesses offer Sponsor support and a fantastic raffle with over $4000 in prizes run on the day too.

Ganmain Public School also benefit by running the canteen on the day and this year saw an added $500 donation from Ganmain Bakery as a result of Triple M Riverina duo Jamie & Leigh competing the bike leg on a tandem bike!

This year saw Alpine Timing electronic tracking introduced which streamlined the event and allows participants to see individual times for each leg as well as transition areas.
