Residents unite against wind farm
A group of very concerned East Greenmount residents is banding together in an effort to put a halt to plans to construct a series of wind turbines along the escarpment at Ramsay and East Greenmount. The group of residents, who do not wish to be named, met with local Member for Condamine and Shadow Energy Minister Pat Weir on Monday to discuss what the best options moving forward are to have the project stopped.
Community camera alliance launched
Police from the Darling Downs District have launched the Community Camera Alliance at the Denise Kable Youth Services Centre in the Toowoomba suburb of Centenary Heights. Community Camera Alliance is an opportunity for members of the community across the region to register their closed circuit television (CCTV) system with the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
Public health alert
Darling Downs Public Health Unit is managing two confirmed cases of locally acquired Hepatitis A in Toowoomba. The residents were active in the community and a child attended a local school whilst infectious from 14 May 2023.
Preston Peak accommodation approved
Lockyer Valley Regional Council has approved a development application made by Preston Peak Events Pty Ltd to use a house in Preston as accommodation for its visitors ... The ‘Motel’ is to be available to be booked for guests’ stays for a maximum of 170 nights in any calendar year.

Plans for new western bypass
Just as the original Toowoomba Bypass radically changed the nature of transport for the east-west axis of Toowoomba, a north-south bypass, on the western side of town, would make a huge impact on the local region. A Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) spokesperson confirmed TMR is undertaking a planning project to protect a future state transport corridor west of Toowoomba.
