Yesterday representatives of the local soccer club, Lions Club and the CWA were each presented with $800 cheques from the IGA Community Chest to assist them with their activities, and all recipients were very thankful for the gift.
Singleton Station water licence subject to changes in conditions
Following the Water Resources Review Panel’s assessment of the Singleton Station water licence, the Minister for Territory Families and Urban Housing (as delegate for the Minister for Water Security) has announced that an amended water extraction licence has been granted for Fortune Agribusiness with some new and modified conditions ... Under the revised water licence, Fortune Agribusiness is required to carry out further hydrogeological investigation of the water resources at the site of the planned bore field, and also complete an impact assessment of groundwater extraction on identified groundwater dependent cultural values.

CWA ladies get in the festive spirit
The ladies of the CWA have been getting busy at the moment as they decorate the hall in preparation for the Lions Seniors Christmas lunch to be held tomorrow. The annual event is hosted by the Lions Club, but the CWA members pitch in to help make it special by decorating the hall and creating a festive mood.
Residents present petition fighting for animal services in town camps
A petition with more than 700 signatures was presented to Barkly Regional Council yesterday in a bid to improve animal welfare services in town camps. Local resident Peter Cain said the initiative came after citizens became concerned that the Animal Management Services were provided in town but not local Community Living Areas (CLA).
