Ten juniors from Canteen Creek and five from Arlparra travelled to Darwin last week for the third National Indigenous Tennis Carnival. The children were treated to an unforgettable experience, which included a first plane ride and a use of an escalator for some of the children.

Canoe course provides plenty of fun on the water
Pam Dillon. Allana Bold from “All About Paddling” travelled from Queensland to conduct a three-day canoe and kayak course held out at Tingkkarli (Lake Mary Ann). Seven participants were taught the different strokes of canoeing, navigation, minimal environmental impact, knots, rescues, towing, communication, risk assessment, interpret weather, parts of both crafts, how to conduct a paddling brief and run a paddling activity.
A plan to make the most of $17 billion investment for Barkly
The Barkly Regional Deal is seeking public comment on the 2030 Barkly Economic Growth Strategy which outlines key projects, programs and proposals anticipated for the region to build a diverse economy and improve social outcomes, culture, and quality of life for Barkly residents. The Strategy has been developed by working groups of Barkly business leaders, Aboriginal business enterprises, industry groups and community stakeholders.
Desert Harmony Festival hailed a success
This year’s Desert Harmony Festival has been hailed a success with more than 3,000 people passing through the gates over the Picnic Day long weekend. The Barkly Regional Arts’ event featured 27 performances, an extensive workshop series and an art fair over four days in Tennant Creek, the annual festival provided an opportunity to celebrate and showcase talented creatives from the Barkly region alongside some special guest performances.

The former Australia Post Office Manager in Tennant Creek has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $425,000 from the franchise. An NT News report says Rebecca Liebelt appeared in the Darwin Court on Monday, pleading guilty to stealing and obtaining property by deception.
Free trauma workshops for Barkly residents
We Al-li is providing culturally informed-trauma integrated workshops in Tennant Creek and is planning to visit communities across the Barkly. The programs, which are free and open to all community members, are for health, sharing culture and regenerating the spirit.
